Therefore, the Civil Diplomacy Foundation invites you, dear colleagues, to join the open lecture «The Crisis of Representative Democracy: Consequences, Causes and Potential Remedies» and participate in the discussion. The lecture will be provided by Dr. Fernando Casal Bértoa, Associate Professor and co-director of the Research Centre for the Study of Parties and Democracy (REPRESENT) at the University of Nottingham (UK), member of the OSCE/ODIHR “Core Group of Political Party Experts”, he is also International IDEA and Westminster Foundation for Democracy collaborator as well as Venice Commission and United Nations expert.

His latest monograph, winner of the AECPA Best Book Prize and runner-up for the Stein Rokkan Prize (2022), is titled Party System Closure: Party Alliances, Government Alternative and Democracy in Europe (OUP, 2021).
